IRA Early Withdrawal Penalty Adds Insult to Injury

In these hard economic times many people have had to raid their IRAs just to be able to pay their bills.

As you may or may not know, whenever you take an early distirbution from your IRA, you pay a 10% penalty on the amount of the withdrawal on your income tax.

It seems to me that making people that are trying to survive through these hard times, and in doing so are reducing their retirement monies, shouldn’t be penalized by Uncle Sam. It seems like adding insult to injury to me.

I would like to see the 10% penalty temporarily removed until the economy recovers, retroactive to include 2009 and 2010 tax returns.

What are your thoughts?

My turn to vent, this is just too much for me to ignore.
Well, here we go again. The leader (cough, cough) of our nation has paid a visit to another country, whooppeeee!! And what does he do upon his first greeting?? He BOWS!!
The first time I saw this taking place was when he went to Saudi Arabia, and BOWS to the saudi prince. The look on THAT guys face said it all, i.e., “THIS?? is the new President of the US?? How weak is this guy??”

Sure, maybe in Obama’s eyes, he thinks it is a sign of respect to another world leader, but, in the eyes of many others, if you are a world leader,…you show it. STAND UP STRAIGHT YOU IDIOT!! You’re supposed to be the leader of what is supposed to be the greatest free nation in the world!

I can almost imagine him walking up to, oh, let’s say the leader of North Korea and doing that when tensions have been high with that country for some time, and Kim jong giving him a nice karate chop to the back of the head. How brainless!! That would teach him to not do that again!

Yeah I’m upset, My father, and his friends and compatriots and many others up to this very day, have fought for the freedom and strength of this country. And NEVER has ANY standing president bowed to another countries leader, especially a full down bow. (that is a sign of submission)

Now, I could see a slight bow of about 30 degrees toward the one whom you are meeting, with, constant eye contact and a handshake, THAT would be a sign of respect. Heck, at this rate Obama may as well get down on his hand and knees and kiss their bare feet and say “I am you slave and servant forever.”

Did this guy come up with this crap by himself?? Or did one of his staff tell him to do this?

I hope folks are starting to see the light with this guy, from what I’ve seen, this is the biggest nightmare this country has ever been a witness to and has yet to wake up from the dream. I don”t see anything but a bunch of crooks in this administration, OH!!,,,another thing. What’s with all this CZAR CRAP???!! This is NOT a communist country, at least not the last time I looked.

Man, I could just imagine the looks I’d see if my father and his war buddies were still alive. They’d be madder than a pack of raccoons backed into a corner and just come flyin out to give one hell of a fight. this is just not right, I’m glad that I’m not the one who voted for this guy. Sure, he can talk, sure he’s got charisma, but he tottally lacks in the most important area, LEADERSHIP Qualities!!

Perssonally, I don’t much faith in this countries leadership abilities, congress, the senate, the supreme court, they all need some major changes.
God help us all.

Are Bicyclers Riding the Wrong Way?

Is is just me or does anyone else think that riding a bicycle with the flow of traffic is a bad idea?

When I was was a kid, we were taught to ride against oncoming traffic so we could see the cars approaching us.

When you ride with the flow, the cars that are approaching are coming at you from behind and you have no idea if they see you or if they are paying attention. Maybe they dropped their cigarette, are texting, or falling asleep. You don’t see them vearing toward you, crash, bang, chrunch, you’re dead.

If you had been riding toward the oncoming traffic, you would have seen that they were going to hit you and moved over to let them pass.

Which seems the smarter choice?

Let Little Girls BE Little

Okay Nickelodeon–so now you want Dora to look more ‘grown up’ –so why not leave her alone and create another character? Why is everyone in such a hurry to have little girls grow up so fast? Why can’t you just let Dora be there for the younger children? Could it be so that now the kids can bug their parents into buying the new improved versions of EVERYTHING that was ‘Old Dora’?

When are parents going to say ‘enough is enough’ when it comes to bombarding our kids with stuff they, (any greedy person involved in the scam of marketing to kids), can think of. To me the whole idea of what companies do to attract customers is rediculous. There may be a few consumer items out there that use a moderate approach to advertising…to me, the cheaper the commercial, the more likely I am to buy that product. Indeed there are many products that don’t advertise at all and I still buy them, usually because of quality.

If your company is spending millions of dollars on advertising, perhaps your product is over priced. Old Navy recently caught a lot of flack for using mannequins in their ads….Fantastic! Way to cut back! More companies should follow suit.

As far as marketing to kids, Shame Shame on these companies for not having the courage to HELP parents…if nothing else, do cheaper commercials and lower your products price!

Murder

My question is why are the owner and plant managers of the peanut factories in Georgia and Texas not being charged with murder and attempted murder when they knew all along that their product was tainted and would be poisonous to consumers that bought their product. Nine people died as a result and numerous others became sick. Can anyone answer this question for me because I am at a loss.

What’s up with Pizza Hut? After over 20 years of loyalty to eating mostly Pizza Hut pizzas, one of the new bosses at Pepsico (now owners of PH)decides to stop selling PORK sausage as a topping… say WHAT???? Even the personel at my local PH are confused why they, the PH home office, would decide to do this. Oh yeah, their excuse is–We’ve gone healthy…hell-the -as in… pasta swimming in Alfredo, and cheeses and bacon, not to mention the newest dish that’s so slimming…Lasagna! Come on man….give us back our pork sausage! Oh, and I was also told they want to cut their name to “The Hut”…..go figure….

Let’s Boycott some companies…

The companies that are paying ridiculous amounts of money to make commercials to lure in customers. It’s shameful to have to purchase some items I need that are sold by companies whose prices are so high that they can spend exorbitant amounts of money to put their product on tv. Shame on the tv companies for asking such prices too. Since we are already watching, who gives a crap about a dancing bear selling me cereal, just go on tv, say “buy my product” and if the product is good people will buy it. Even scaling back how often a commercial airs could save money. For heaven’s sake, who needs to be told 15 times a day how good Tide works, or that It’s Miller Time? Of course, there are so many new products out there competing for consumer consumption, it verges on crazy. Yeah, if those companies can afford to spend that much on advertising, then they are over-charging consumers to pay for them. Are companies supposed to publish to the public how much it cost to make their product?

Ride a mile in my wheelchair

Recently, while accompanying a friend who is handicapped to the store, I found myself wishing that, whoever had stocked some of the items she bought should be made to ride around in the electric cart provided and see what it is like for a handicapped person to have to shop. Go to the soda aisle, pull up next to the fully stocked 6-pack of bottled sprite, stand up part way, and while attempting to hold on to the cart so you don’t fall, pull out that 6-pack. Now, retrieve any item from a top shelf or even lower. In other words, stores do not have enough adequate help available for handicapped shoppers. These services may be provided by some stores but certainly their notification to patrons is not clear enough. A solution submitted by me would be to somehow install a ‘call button’ on each aisle or so to access an employee for help. Also, make sure cashiers are handicapped friendly by offering to unload and load groceries out of cart and then back into the cart when bagged. I’ve seen some really lazy cashiers out there who seem annoyed when asked to put the bags in your buggie, even after telling them I have arthritis.
