Iowa offers West High receiver Oliver Martin
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Oliver Martin’s recruiting stock seems to have risen everywhere, including now in his home state.
The Iowa Hawkeyes are the fifth Big Ten school to offer the Iowa City West receiver a scholarship in less than a week.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz made the offer Tuesday night.
Wisconsin was the first Big Ten school to offer Martin a scholarship this past weekend followed by Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa and Indiana on Wednesday. Martin also has scholarship offers from Army, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Northern Iowa.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Martin has seen his stock rise substantially this spring. He helped his cause by being named the most valuable receiver at The Opening Chicago in May.
Martin has started on the West High varsity team at receiver since he was a freshman. He caught 73 passes for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior last fall.
He is also a standout swimmer and baseball player for West High.
