Former Hawkeye Laulauga Tausaga wins World Championship in discus
First woman from United States to win event
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Hawkeye Laulauga Tausaga-Collins has made history by becoming the first woman from the United States to win a World Championship in the discus.
On Tuesday, Tausaga-Collins won the gold medal at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary with a personal-best throw of 69.49 meters.
A native of Hawaii, Tausaga-Collins competed for as a Hawkeye from 2017-21 and she was a two-time Big Ten champion and a one-time national champion in the event.
