Isaiah McMillian Discusses Iowa Football Offer
Hawkeyes Jump in with TX DB
There’s a reason Iowa Football lauds its accomplishments in developing NFL talent. It benefits the program on the front end. The Hawkeyes’ reputation proceeds them on the recruiting trail.
“All I know about Iowa is that Cooper DeJean went there. And they produce defensive backs,” said Katy (TX) High’s Isaiah McMillian, who reported a scholarship from them on Wednesday night.
The versatile athlete is working on setting up an Iowa visit. He’s targeting June 22 for his commitment announcement.
McMillian’s recruiting stock is rising. Baylor, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Syracuse joined the Hawkeyes in offering him this month. He previously claimed offers from TCU, Arizona, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Kansas State, Utah and others. He set up official visits to Pittsburgh (June 12) and Houston (June 19).
In searching for his college home, McMillian has a wish list. He’s hoping to check off boxes during his campus visits.
“The most important things for me in picking a place is that it’s somewhere I can live outside of football, a great environment and coaches I like,” he said.
Academics will be a key consideration as well. Iowa’s Tippie School of Business could appeal to McMillian, who is considering majors in Marketing or Accounting.
McMillian (6-1, 170) is ranked as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. The service sees him as 77th best cornerback nationally in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 121 overall player in talent-rich Texas. Prep Redzone has him as its No. 36 defensive back in the state.
