Iowa basketball adds Peyton McCollum to 2025-26 roster

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Peyton McCollum will be joining the University of Iowa men’s basketball program this fall, it was announced Friday by head coach Ben McCollum.
Peyton McCollum is the third Class of 2025 prospect to join the Iowa roster, joining West Des Moines’ Trevin Jirak and Oklahoma’s Tate Sage. Peyton McCollum is the oldest son of the Hawkeyes’ first-year head coach.
Peyton McCollum is the 12th player to join the new-look Iowa roster this spring along with Drake transfers Bennett Stirtz, Kael Combs, Cam Manyawu, Isaia Howard, Tavion Banks and Joey Matteoni, Robert Morris transfer Alvaro Folgueiras, Kansas State transfer Brendan Hausen and Hawkeye returnee Cooper Koch.

- First-team all-conference and all-district selection as a junior after averaging 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game at Maryville (Mo.) High School
- Led prep team to a Class 4 District 16 title – its first since 2019
- Scored 1,000+ points in his first three prep seasons in Missouri
- Tied a career-high with 29 points in his final game at Maryville in the state semifinals
- Played club basketball for Kingdom Hoops EYCL
