IOWA CITY, Iowa – A spokesperson for the Iowa Athletic Department has confirmed that Gabe Arnold is no longer a member of the Iowa wrestling team.
Reports surfaced Monday on social media that Arnold had been dismissed from the Iowa wrestling team.
During his two seasons at Iowa, Arnold compiled a 27-8 overall record, including 13-3 in dual meets and 6-2 in the Big Ten.
Arnold finished 19-7 this past season at 184 pounds, and he finished in fifth place at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. He also had nine bonus point victories including one pin, three technical falls, and five major decisions, and he placed second at the Soldier Salute.
While reports on social media said that Arnold had been dismissed from the Iowa wrestling team, the UI spokesperson only said in an e-mail that Arnold is no longer a member of the Iowa wrestling team.
Arnold, who graduated from Iowa City High School in 2023, will have three seasons of eligibility.
The Iowa wrestling team already suffered a significant blow when 2026 prize recruit Bo Bassett recently announced that he had de-committed from Iowa.
