Former Iowa center Luka Garza signs 2-year deal with Boston Celtics

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa All-America center Luka Garza is about to join one of the NBA’s most storied teams, and will do so with a guaranteed contract.
Garza has signed a 2-year, fully guaranteed $5.5 million deal with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Garza has spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves after having played for the Detroit Pistons his rookie season.
The Washington D.C. native played in 39 games for the Timberwolves last season, averaging 3.5 points and 1.4 rebounds.
Garza became the first player in Iowa men’s basketball history to twice be named Big Ten Player of the Year and consensus first-team All-American.
He also had his Iowa jersey No. 55 retired.
